Cultivating Contentment

Much of our inner tension stems from the belief that we need more—more time, more money, more progress, more success. But what if the root of Asteya is learning to see and trust in what we already have? This week, we explore contentment as a sacred act. When we appreciate our lives just as they are, the urge to “take” fades, and we naturally begin to live from a place of generosity and joy.

Gratitude becomes our anchor, and presence becomes our power.

Weekly Yoga Practice: Contentment quiets the urge to grasp for more.

Practice Focus:

  • Heart-Opening Flow: Gentle backbends like Cobra, Sphinx, Bridge, and low Lunge with Cactus Arms to expand the chest and heart space.

  • Emphasis: Ease and gratitude. Move at 60–70% effort and savor the spaces between poses.

  • Mudra: Hridaya Mudra (hand gesture for heart healing).

Breathwork:

Inhale: “I am grateful.”

Exhale: “I have enough.”

Closing Reflection: What can you thank your body for today? What inner abundance can you recognize right now?

Our mantra for the week is…

I trust in the abundance within and around me.

Our journaling prompts are…

What in my life today can I truly appreciate?

How does naming my blessings shift the way I move through the world?

And our meditation is…a meditation for gratitude and contentment

Gratitude Body Scan: Lie down comfortably. Bring awareness to each body part, offering silent thanks for its function and presence. Let this become a meditation of loving recognition.
