Gratitude as an Opening to Joy in the Heart

Gratitude is not about bypassing hard feelings. It’s about widening the heart so more can be held. When we practice gratitude gently and honestly, joy flows naturally — not forced, not fabricated, but felt deeply and truthfully.
Our mantra for the week is…
Gratitude opens my heart; joy flows naturally from within.
Our journaling prompts are…
What does gratitude feel like in my body, not just my thoughts?
Where in my life do I feel emotionally closed or guarded?
How might gratitude soften, rather than fix, these places?
And our meditation is…a meditation to open up the joy fountain in our hearts
Sit comfortably. Breathe into your shoulders. Lift them to your ears and then let them drop. Repeat this a few times.
Inhale through the nose for a count of 4.
Exhale through the nose for a count of 8, letting the chest soften.
As the exhale lengthens, imagine (and maybe feel) any tension dissolving and draining from the heart space.
Visualize the heart chakra opening like a flowy, green flower — not forced, just slowly opening.
If (and when) emotions arise, meet them with kindness.
Silently repeat the mantra with each breath - Gratitude opens my heart; joy flows naturally from within.
Trust joy to flow when the heart feels safe and open.
Stay for 3–5 minutes.
