We often think strength means holding everything together. But yoga teaches a deeper truth: sometimes strength means knowing when to soften. Ishvara Pranidhana invites us to surrender—not out of weakness, but from trust, courage, and inner wisdom.
December is the perfect month to practice this kind of brave surrender.
On-the-Mat Practices for Surrender
Mountain Pose With Breath Awareness: Stand tall while releasing tension down through the feet.
Slow Sun Salutations: Move with intention, pausing in each shape.
Restorative Legs-Up-the-Wall: Release swelling, fatigue, and mental pressure.
Box Breathing: Inhale 4. Hold 4. Exhale 4. Hold 4. A simple way to reset the nervous system.
Off-the-Mat Practices for Surrender
Set One Boundary: Say no where your energy needs protection.
Digital Softening: Take a 10–20 minute break from screens daily.
Surrender Walks: Take a slow walk with no agenda—simply observe and receive.
Our mantra for the week is…
I soften. I trust. I allow.
Our journaling prompts are…
Where can I surrender tension in my relationships?
What does strength look like when I’m not forcing?
What would trusting my intuition look like this month?
And our meditation is…a meditation to surrender to the light within
Close your eyes and imagine a soft golden light above your head. With each inhale, it pours down through your body. With each exhale, you release whatever you no longer need—like breath clouds dissolving into air.
