I am Breathing Out
Breathing. It is a natural rhythm. We can bring our attention to this rhythm or we can simply let it be - silent observers of the story our breath can tell us. What story is your breath telling you? Are you listening? In the space of one exhale, we can release, feel a sense of ease and notice our body softening.
Our exhale allows our lungs to move toward deeper relaxation, decreases the space in our chest cavity and brings a sense of ease, calm and release to each cell in our bodies. Let's take this week to explore the space of our exhale.
Our mantra for the week is...
I am breathing in and I am breathing out, and in this moment, that is enough
As I breathe out, I feel at ease
Breathing out, I know I am breathing out
Our journaling prompt is…
Describe what breathing out feels like to you.
As you bring more attention to your exhale, what sensations are apparent in your body?
When you practice meditation this week, focus on the exhale and the action of letting go. What are you letting go of, physically, mentally, emotionally? Write about your experience.
And our meditation is...
Find a comfortable seat.
Allow your body to relax. Inhaling and exhaling through the nose. Say "I am breathing in. I am breathing out." for 7-10 breaths. With each exhale feel the body relax a little more.
As you feel the body relax, you may come in and out of awareness of the breath, how the body is feeling. You may find yourself lost in thought. Let all this happen naturally. Allow emotions to rise and fall. Welcome in the whole experience.
Listen. Be with the experience of the exhale.
I am breathing out. And I know I am breathing out.
I am breathing out. Breathing out makes me feel at ease.
I am breathing out. Breathing out helps me to be more aware of the present moment.
As I breathe out, I am aware of my whole body.
As I breathe out I am aware of my thoughts.
As I breathe out, I am aware of my mind.
As I breathe out, I am aware of the infinite nature of the universe.
As I breathe out, I let go.
Breathe deeply here. What insight comes up as you experience the exhale? What do you want to remember from this experience? Take a moment to express gratitude for the wisdom of your breath.
Pause and allow yourself plenty of time to slowly return to your day.
