Embracing Balance in the Season of Light
June brings long days, full gardens, and nature in its most expansive expression. As we soak in the sunlight and energy of the season, yoga gently reminds us to pause and reflect:
How much is enough?
What truly sustains me?
This month, our practice turns to the principle of Brahmacharya, a Sanskrit word often translated as non-excess or wise use of energy. Brahmacharya doesn’t mean restriction—it means choosing with intention. It invites us to create space for what really matters, by letting go of what doesn’t.
What Does Brahmacharya Look Like in Modern Life?
We live in a culture of more—more productivity, more stimulation, more doing. Brahmacharya asks us to notice when “more” begins to take away from our well-being.
On the mat, it might mean choosing steadiness over striving.
Off the mat, it might mean taking a break from screen time or honoring your need for rest.
It might even mean noticing when enough food, talk, or motion is… enough.
This month, consider how you might align more deeply with your own energy—so you’re living not from depletion, but from balance.
