As the autumn leaves begin to fall, October invites us to slow down, turn inward, and reconnect with ourselves. 🍂 At Bee Well Yoga, our theme for the month is Svādhyāya — self-study, one of the niyamas of yoga.
Svādhyāya teaches us that yoga isn’t just about movement on the mat; it’s about developing awareness in every part of our lives. Through curiosity, reflection, and compassion, we can discover who we are and how we want to show up in the world.
This month, we’re weaving Svādhyāya into our yoga classes, workshops, and community events. Here’s what’s coming up:

🌿 How to Practice Svādhyāya (Self-Study)
Self-study is a central part of yoga philosophy and one of the easiest ways to bring yoga into your daily life. Here are some simple ways to practice:
On the Yoga Mat
Begin class in child’s pose. Observe your breath without changing it. Notice how you feel today.
Set an intention or mantra, such as “I observe myself with curiosity”, to guide your flow.
After practice, journal a few reflections: What did you notice in your body? Your breath? Your thoughts?
Off the Yoga Mat
Keep a short daily journal and write down one lesson you learned each day.
Choose a favorite poem, yoga sutra, or passage to reflect on weekly.
In stressful moments, pause and notice your thoughts. Instead of reacting, try observing without judgment.
🧡 A Note from Inside the Beehive
At Bee Well Yoga, we believe yoga is a lifelong journey of self-discovery. This October, we invite you to embrace svādhyāya not just in your yoga classes, but in your daily life. Every breath, reflection, and moment of awareness is part of your practice.
Whether you’re joining us for prenatal yoga, our book club, or a community event, know that you’re part of a supportive space where self-study and self-love grow together.
We can’t wait to see you on the mat this October. 🍁
